Description

Greek and Latin Roots! Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas.

This HUGE 282-page resource covers over 60 Greek and Latin roots and 200 different words. Created for grades 4-8.

This listing is for the PRINTABLE version only. CLICK HERE for the DIGITAL version.

Great resource!

Wonderful, thorough Greek & Latin roots notetakers and activities. I purchased to go with the doodle/sketch notes and it is perfect! My students have enjoyed the sketch notes. Will definitely buy Book 2 soon!

Amazing Product!

This Greek and Latin Roots Morphology Vocabulary resource by Teacher Thrive was a strong tool for building word knowledge and vocabulary skills. The worksheets and assessments provided structured practice that helped students understand word meanings more deeply. It was easy to use, well-organized, and supported literacy development effectively.

Great Resource to Teach Morphology!

This is an excellent resource! My students' understanding of Greek and Latin morphology has improved since the implementation of this resource. The analogies are excellent! They challenge the students to think beyond the definitions of the words. I also like that the format between units is consistent, so the students know what to expect each week.

Do you sell the wall cards separately? I wanted to order those to go with doodle roots.

Teacher Thrive

Hello! Unfortunately, I don't sell them separately.

Buyer

Do you have quizzes and answer keys available?

Teacher Thrive

Yes, they are provided to teachers who purchase the resource.

I bought your book 1 and 2 bundle, which is great. But I didn't see that I previously bought Book 1. Is there anyway I can get a credit instead of a refund?

Teacher Thrive

No problem! Just contact tpt and they will refund you for the individual items that are are part of the bundle.

Buyer

Does the get to the root of it book include the doodle pages?

Teacher Thrive

Hello! Thank you for your interest. No, these are a separate purchase.

Lynnetta Witherspoon

Hi, I purchased the Interactive Notebook, how does the two correlate? I see the book has an order from unit 1 etc, but the notebook doesn't. Is their an order?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Lynnetta! The INB contains all of the roots covered in Book 1. The roots for the INB are listed in alphabetical order, and not in the the order of the units (like the Doodle Notes).

Alysia Tarpley

I am looking at your Book 1 & 2 and was wondering if you had quizzes or tests that went along with them?

Teacher Thrive

Hello! Yes, assessments for each unit are included. You can see samples in the preview.

Laurie W.

Hi, thinking about the Root Word sets 1 and 2 which each cover a year. My problem is that I teach 2 sections of honors 7, 2 sections of honors 8 and 1 section of regular 8. I may have the 7's again next year in 8th, so I do not want to deliver the same program to both. I prefer to separate Greek and Latin roots for that reason. Is there an even division within the 2 sets so that each grade can have a separate curriculum?
Thanks for your assistance!

Teacher Thrive

Hello! The Greek and Latin roots are not separated in this resource. Some of the units will have a root or two from each language. The units can be used in any order, however. So you can divide the 40 units by 3 so each section is getting different content. If you do this, you may want to look into adding the All About Affixes book. This will allow you to extend the content to last a year for 3 different sections. I hope this makes sense. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

Reading All Day

This looks like an updated version of a product I bought from you a while ago (books 1 and 2). Is there a way to get the updated version without repaying? I am a HUGE fan of this guide and use it all the time.
Also, did you ever make activities for the advanced additional words? I would love these to differentiate work. Thanks!

Teacher Thrive

Hello! Yes, you have access to the updated files under "My Purchases." Unfortunately, I do not have additional activities for the extra words that are provided for extension.

Kelly O.
