Description

Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas. This is the digital version of the paper-based Get to the Root of It: Book 1.

What’s Included:

This digital version of the paper-based Get to the Root of It [Book 1] contains 20 units, each containing 10 words for 3 to 4 related roots.

Each unit contains 8 Google Form quizzes:

1. Exercise A: Sentence Completion
2. Exercise B: Yes or No?
3. Exercise C: Choose Two
4. Exercise D: Analogies
5. Exercise E: Time to Explore
6. Exercise F: Apply What You Know
7. Word & Definition Match
8. Unit Assessment

Bonus Material:

•Google Slide Cinquain Poem template
•Google Slide Root Word Graphic Organizer
•Google Slide Frayer Vocabulary Model

Important: This resource does not include the printable version of Get to the Root of It.

I like it, but there is no combined option

The material itself is great, but it is frustrating for students to click multiple links to answer all the questions, and even more frustrating for the teacher to grade. I wish all of the material for each section could be assigned on the same Google Form.

So helpful!

Love how easy it is to download and assign into google classroom!

What I was looking for...

A great resource to print and use with students!!!

supporting resource

I bought this as back up to my printed version. I think that the Google Forms set up is difficult for students to work in and they all have preferred the printed packet.

I purchased the digital version (not the print), so I already have the exercises in the Google Forms format. I was checking to see if the print version was included with the digital purchase. Thanks for responding!

Teacher Thrive

Thanks for reaching out. These are separate resources as the digital versions take 100s of hours to create. Many digital resources out there are simply an image of a worksheet/printable embedded into a Google Slide with blank text boxes pasted on top of them. Creating digital resources in this manner is a simple process that only takes a few hours, and you are more than welcome to adapt the printable version as described for your personal use. Our digital versions are all created in Google Forms, so teachers can save time using the self-grading feature, which is not available in Google Slides. As mentioned above, creating Google Forms is very labor and time-intensive, so we decided to list these separately. You are more than welcome to use the printable versions you own to create your own Google Forms to use with your students only.

The printable version is available here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Greek-and-Latin-Roots-Morphology-Vocabulary-Worksheets-Assessments-Book-1-882185

Hi. I was able to access the Google Forms but I don't see where to access the Bonus Google Slides content. My download included just a spreadsheet with links to the 160 Google Forms (8 for each of the 20 units) and the 19-page PDF Preview.

Teacher Thrive

Hello! The links for the bonus materials are also in the spreadsheet. Please look to the lower tabs on the screen where you will see the "Bonus Materials" sheet.

I purchased the digital version of this. Is there a print version available with the purchase? Thanks!

Hi there! My school uses Teams instead of Google Classroom. Would it be possible to copy the text from the Google Forms into a Teams Form? Or should I purchase the paper copy and create the Teams Form manually? So bummed my school doesn't use Google Classroom! Thanks for your help!

Teacher Thrive

Hello! I am sorry about that! I would suggest copy and pasting from the printable version to create your own forms in Teams. I think it would be easier to do, and then you will have both versions.

Love this resource! My student and I wanted to point out that the resource [3D] question numbers are very out of order :) Thank you!

Teacher Thrive

Hello! I just checked the Google Form, but I do not see anything out of order. Could you send me a screenshot? info@teacherthrive.com

These activities are assigned in Google Classroom. I used to be able to collect their scores automatically into my Google Classroom gradebook. This year I am having to have students show me their scores and manually input into the Goggle Classroom Gradebook. Can you help with this?

Michael P.

Good morning. I just purchased this digital resource and I'm having difficulty downloading the material. Is there a way to send me a link? Usually my purchases have a link embedded for easy downloading.
Thanks for your help.
Michael
