Description

Greek and Latin Roots PowerPoints! Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas.

Now you can easily present these essential components of English with these engaging and visually stunning PowerPoint presentations!

What’s included in this resource?

This resource is an extensive collection of 20 different PowerPoint presentations, each one covering three different roots. Each presentation includes ten high-utility words, one word per slide. Each slide includes a clear, concise definition, the word used in context, and a carefully selected image that will further emphasize the meaning and application of the word. Download the preview for a complete look at the Unit 1 PowerPoint.

These PowerPoints are an effective stand-alone resource for your classroom. However, if you are looking to extend and deepen your students’ vocabulary skills, then check out my Get to the Root of It: Book 1. The units from this book are perfectly aligned with the PowerPoints within this resource.

Fabulous Resource

I absolutely love that you have created slides to go along with your other morphology activities. One less thing on my creation list. Thank you for creating this.

Are there quizzes that go along with this product or have I completely overlooked it?

Teacher Thrive

Hello, Susan! No, these are PowerPoints only.

Hi - Just purchased both sets of PowerPoints and the zip files do not completely download with multiple attempts. The files will not expand as zip files. Please advise as to how to access these files.

Kara W.

Hello,
I'm wondering if your powerpoints go with your other resources? For example, if I purchase the interactive notebook Greek and Latin roots, does it align with the powerpoints. Also, if I purchase the sketch notes, do these align with one or both of the former?
thanks!

Teacher Thrive

Thanks for reaching out! These particular powerpoints align perfectly with our Greek and Latin Root Words {Book 1} as well as our Greek and Latin Roots Sketch Notes: Book 1.

JASMINE S.

Do you have a bundle for Book 1?

Teacher Thrive

Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, we do not. TpT doesn't have a function that allows us to easily create custom bundles in a way that ensures customers always have the latest version of their resources, so we don't offer this option on TpT. We do have a Build Your Own Bundle option on our off-site store that you can check out here: https://teacherthrive.com/byob/

I would like to add the slides as Google Slides for my students to view in our Canvas learning management system. Is that allowed? I do not want to violate the copyright and I want to protect your work.
This is an amazing resource!

Teacher Thrive

Thanks for asking. Teachers are absolutely allowed to use any Teacher Thrive/Got to Teach resources they have purchased with their students on private Learning Management Systems likes Google Classroom, Schoology, Microsoft Teams, or Canvas. We do prohibit users from sharing resources with other teachers who have not purchased the materials, however. We also prohibit the use of our materials for commercial purposes on platforms such as Outschool. Again, thank you for reaching out. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I am very interested in purchasing the Greek and Latin roots PPT. I saw another buyer asked the question of transitioning the ppt to Googe slides. I will need to do the same for my school. Do you know if your product transitions well into Google? Thank you!

Teacher Thrive

Hello! Yes, these will work in Google Slides.

My Lit Locker

Does the book 1 PowerPoint have all the words (not just the roots) that are on the doodle worksheets?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Kim,
The PowerPoints don’t match the doodle notes word lists word for word;
I added a few more words to the doodle notes that students can choose from. They do perfectly match the printables in the Get to the Root of It books.

Alicia S.

Does Book 1 powerpoint coincide with Book 1 Doodle Notes?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Alicia! Yes, the cover the same roots.

Cindy M.

I am excited to order a bunch of your roots materials...I had been using another product, but yours seems so much more complete! Question: We are a "Google" school - will the Powerpoints translate OK into Google Slides? I'd hate to buy 3 PPT resources and then not be able to use them. Is the password issue fixed? Thanks so much!

Teacher Thrive

Hi Cindy! I’d be happy to send you some sample resources to try out. Please email me at info@teacherthrive.com

Kelley Hively

I'm super interested in your Greek & Latin roots products. I understand that the powerpoints can't be edited. Is it possible to add narration to them? I'd like to be able to do that for some of my modified reading kiddos. It seems like they may now be editable based on one of the Q & As below. If you could let me know before I purchase, I'd appreciate it! Thanks.

Teacher Thrive

Hi Kelley! Yes, the PowerPoints are editable so you can add narration to them.
