Description

Greek and Latin Roots! Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas.

This HUGE 282-page resource covers over 60 Greek and Latin roots and 200 different words. Created for grades 4-8.

This listing is for the PRINTABLE version only. CLICK HERE for the DIGITAL version.

I have been looking for a way to teach Greek/Latin Roots and this packet fit the bill perfectly. The variety of activities provide a weeks worth (and more) of work in which I can establish a routine around. Thank you!

Is it the same words and practice work for 4th-7th grade or specific for each? I teach 4th and they seemed a little difficult.

Brian K.

Hi,
Your materials look great and I have book 1 in my cart but just wanted to ask about the assessments for each unit. The preview shows 10 questions. Is that the length of the whole assessment for each unit or is it longer?
Thanks for putting these together.
Sincerely,
Karen

Teacher Thrive

Thanks for reaching out! Yes, the assessment for each unit is 10 questions.

Hi there!
I purchased this product and the sketch notes. I'd like to combine the two files and arrange the files by lesson to simplify my printing in the future. I cannot do this since the file is password protected. Do you have a file that includes both or that is organized with all the unit resources together?

Thanks!

Teacher Thrive

Hi Michelle,
Unfortunately, we do not have a file of these that are combined.

Carol A.

I have purchase that resource. Can you tell me where the the assessments are located?

Thank you ,
Carol Allen

Teacher Thrive

They begin on page 262 of the PDF.

Carol A.

Hey,

I’m asking about tests for the Greek and Latin Root words book 1.

Do you any for them ? Sorry I didn’t specify earlier.
Thank you
Carol Allen

Teacher Thrive

Hello! Not to worry. Yes, assessments are included for each unit.

Melissa Neves

Hello! I love your product! I noticed that you now have a digital version of this. Due to the pandemic, my school district is currently using a Hybrid model of learning - 2 days in person, 3 days remote, and LOTS of Google Meets. Having paid for this purchase, would it be possible to have access to the digital version?

Teacher Thrive

Thanks for reaching out. These are separate resources as the digital versions take 100s of hours to create. Many digital resources out there are simply an image of a worksheet/printable embedded into a Google Slide with blank text boxes pasted on top of them. Creating digital resources in this manner is a simple process that only takes a few hours, and you are more than welcome to adapt the printable version as described for your personal use. Our digital versions are all created in Google Forms, so teachers can save time using the self-grading feature, which is not available in Google Slides. As mentioned above, creating Google Forms is very labor and time-intensive, so we decided to list these separately. You are more than welcome to use the printable versions you own to create your own Google Forms to use with your students only.

Hello,

I’ve already downloaded the files so I’m won’t be asking to exchange the resource. “Let’s get to the root of it book 1”.

You mentioned making a copy of it and then deleting what I didn’t want of need. How can I do that ?

Thanks for your help.
Carol Allen

Teacher Thrive

Hello! You can just copy and paste the file from the folder and onto your desktop or another folder and then you'll need to expand the page thumbnails while you have the copy of the PDF open and then you can select the pages you wish to remove.
Here are a few tips:
- Make sure your Adobe Reader is up to date.
- Try "Save As" to create a new document if copying to your desktop does not work.

Carey R.

Jennifer Burns

Is there a way you can update this and make the GL available for distance learning through google classroom? I used this everyday in my classroom, but really need it available for distance learning.

Teacher Thrive

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for reaching out! We do have the Greek and Latin Roots Book 1 available digitally here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/DIGITAL-Greek-and-Latin-Roots-Book-1-Distance-Learning-5351808
