Description

Greek and Latin Roots! Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas.

This HUGE 282-page resource covers over 60 Greek and Latin roots and 200 different words. Created for grades 4-8.

This listing is for the PRINTABLE version only. CLICK HERE for the DIGITAL version.

This is such an incredible product!! I too believe it is really important that kids are familiar with these roots since I stress the use of context clues big time. I will begin using this with my 7th graders as homework this coming week-a section a night! Since it says "Book 1" I can only hope another book is coming, along with a 7th/8th grade edition of your 5-A-Day Common Core Language Review. Both would be in my cart instantly! Your products are amazing, and I am lucky to be a follower of your work. Thanks as always!

I love your resources and am so appreciative of your hard work. The following are Greek/Latin Roots my district requires me to teach and I am not seeing them in any of your resources. I would love if you added these in!

trans/tran/tra

Thank you so much for your kind words! Unfortunately, we don't have these roots. However, we will definitely keep these in mind for future projects!

Thank you so much for your response. It wont allow me to reply directly though, so this is reference to your response as follows.

Hello, Jonathan. Thanks for reaching out! If you open the file in Adobe Reader, you should be able to select the page thumbnails on the side, choose the pages you do not want, and save that as a separate PDF. We have a digital version of this resource specifically created to be used in Google Classroom that you can find here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Greek-and-Latin-Roots-Book-1-DIGITAL-5351808

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro and that is exactly what i am trying to do. I want to save the specific page as a separate PDF so i can use it by itself but it does not allow me to do so. I prefer this PDF version over the google form version that you linked above because we use a platform called Illuminate in our district and that platform grades it automatically for my gradebook while still using the PDF. However, the complete file I downloaded will not let me create separate PDF files because it says it is password protected.

Teacher Thrive

Hello. Could you please email us at info@teacherthrive.com, so that we can troubleshoot this with you directly? Thank you!

I am trying to copy a single page so i can upload the quiz pages to my google classroom but it does not let me save that one page as a PDF because it says the document is password protected. How can i go about this? Its a wonderful resource but not being able to pull a single page to upload the quiz on the google classroom is a serious drawback.

Hi there! I am looking to purchase some of your products for my ILA kiddos. Would it work well to use the INB along with this resource? Thanks!

Teacher Thrive

Thanks for reaching out! Yes, this pairs perfectly with our Greek and Latin Root Words Books 1 & 2.

Vicki Worthing

Hi. I'm excited to use this resource this coming year with my students. In looking ahead, I noticed that on the assessment for Unit 8, #3, Lewis Carroll's name is misspelled on both the print and digital versions of the test (I bought both.) I was hoping this could be fixed before I get to that unit.

Thanks so much. Your materials are wonderful.

Teacher Thrive

Hi Vicki! Thanks for letting us know about the errors. We will get these corrected when our editor is back at work next week.
