Description
Greek and Latin Roots! Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas.
This HUGE 282-page resource covers over 60 Greek and Latin roots and 200 different words. Created for grades 4-8.

Great resource for the classroom! Concepts were reinforced accordingly.
I think this is a great resource for adding in more vocabulary practice to your classroom. It's well-laid out and I appreciate the memory game cards and the word wall cards as well.
One thing to note, I teach in a low-income school with many Latinx and Indigenous students. I try to use culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices in my classroom, so I'm careful with the content I use. If you're in the same position, I'd recommend you double-check all examples before distributing them to your students. I've already changed some elements because they mention things that feel a bit insensitive to my student's backgrounds.
I love using these activities in my classroom to review/practice Greek & Latin Roots. My students enjoy that the units all have the same activity. They know what to expect. It also makes it really easy to assign as homework or to use 1 of the activities as a quick exit ticket.
This resource has been a life saver! I was told by my school that we had to incorporate Greek and Latin word parts into my day this year. This resources was a great way to quickly introduce, practice, and assess. I liked the way it was organized. Saved me so much time.
Thank you so much for this valuable resource! My students loved it!

Small typo on p. 114. Not a student page so no big deal. Really like this though! :)
Oh thanks! I'll fix and repost right away.
I love this and it is just what I need! This product covers 5 of the 20 that we are required to cover in fifth grade. Do you have or would you consider creating another product that covers di-,dif-,dis-; a,ab, abs; sur-, super; ad; pos, pon, posit; sid, sed, sess; cur, curs, cour; pes, pod; cray; ate; phobia; ped; sol, mon; rupt; leg, lig, lect; duct; grad, gress; struct
I do have plans to make more books with many of those roots included. However, it will won't be up for several weeks, as these take so long to make. Thank you for your interest!
