Description

Greek and Latin Roots! Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas.

This HUGE 282-page resource covers over 60 Greek and Latin roots and 200 different words. Created for grades 4-8.

This listing is for the PRINTABLE version only. CLICK HERE for the DIGITAL version.

Great resource, very easy to use, and comprehensive, the perfect resource to accompany the unit on root words!

Patricia S.

This was a great resource to use with my small groups.

Alycia Goodlett

This was a great resource for my students as we prepared for state testing. I plan on using more of the components next school year.

Danielle Hamilton

I really enjoyed this resource, especially because it allowed students to complete their independent morphology work on their own. However, I didn’t find the analogy section as effective, as many students found it confusing. I often ended up telling students to skip that part. Despite that, the rest of the resource was valuable and worked well for independent learning.

We love this whole set. I think you should purchase the entire set to get the most out of it.

In book one unit six number 8, there is a question to answer yes or no. "You can allocate time." The answer says no but couldn't it be "yes".

Teacher Thrive

So I just looked through it at the answer key does list "yes." Make sure you have dowloaded the latest version. Perhaps that was an error that has been corrected in a previous update.

What clipart did you use for these units? I would like to create a bulletin board using the same images. Thanks!

Teacher Thrive

Hi! They are from melonheadz. They have a TpT store, but I think I got these ones from their etsy store.

Hi,
My school has recently went 1:1 with computers, and I would like to make this accessible to my students on their computers, without violating copyright. Would it be possible for me to only include Vocab words of the week, and their definitions for my students to access in order to study at home?

Katie

Teacher Thrive

Hi Kaite! Are you asking to post them on line for your students to access? You can do that if the site is private and only available to your students. Please email me with the specifics and I would be more than happy to help. gottoteach@icloud.com

Hi there! I'm super excited to begin this book with my 5th graders this year. I'm loving what I see so far!!! I'll be making student books and am in need of a cover page. I'd love for it to look just like your cover page - but with a white background, student-geared text under the title, and a place at the bottom for name. Would it be possible for you to help me out please? I'd be so grateful. Thank you!!!

Teacher Thrive

I am not sure what you're needing? Could you please email me? I can't say when/if I can get to this, since I'm pretty busy. But it might be some thing I can do later.

Tina K.

Another question...How many pages are the unit assessments? Thanks.

Teacher Thrive

Hi Tina! Each assessment in one page. You can see what an actual assessment looks like (along with the other components of a complete unit) if you download the preview. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Melissa

A complete word wall with “headers” for each root. What are the sizes of the individual word wall cards and the headers? Thanks.

Teacher Thrive

Hello! The headers are about 8.5 x 3.5 inches and the word cards are about 8.5 x 2.75 inches. You can get an actual look of these, and the other components that make up a unit, if you download the preview. Thanks for your interest.

I love this product and have been using this in my class this year. The one suggestion that I have is that I need a NAME line on the top of the student pages. Yes, I can hand write it but I hate that. Can you add a header on the student pages?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Jennifer! Let me look at the file and see if I left room for one. I remember not having much space, but I will see what I can do!

Pamela C.

I love your program and use it exclusively for my fifth grade classes. I was wondering if you have considered making the worksheets able to be edited. We have have found a few errors and I would like to be able to make the changes for next year's class. Love, love, love your product!

Teacher Thrive

Unfortunately it is not available in an editable form. I use Adobe Illustrator to make my resources, so it's not possible to upload a word or PowerPoint file. Please check that the latest version of the resource. The errors you have found may have been revised. If not, please email me any typos and I'll fix them within 24 hours. Thanks. When you are teaching a unit about long do you spend on each unit?? This product is wonderful can't wait to use it!!!

Teacher Thrive

Hi Ashley! It really depends on the age and level of your students. Some teachers who work with older or more advanced students will spend a week on one unit. If you are teaching younger students, then you could spread one unit out over two weeks. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Katie M.

Sorry, one more question and a clarification of my previous question. My previous question was in regard to #7 in 6D. This question is in regard to #1 in 6D. You have c as the answer, but why couldn't a work just as well?

Teacher Thrive

I am not sure what I was thinking on that one. I agree, that both work. I will reword that once so there is one BEST choice. I should have an updated version up within a day or two.

UPDATE: All fixed now! Thanks again!
