Description
Greek and Latin roots! Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas.

It's been super useful and well laid out. My students are starting to build connections between words! Very thankful.

Do you have assessments for sixth grade 5-A-Day?
Hello! Yes, I do: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/6th-Grade-Weekly-Language-Assessments-Grammar-Quizzes-3091839
I really like this product, but I am concerned about the number of mistakes within the document. Can you please correct the mistakes? I am becoming embarrassed to even use the worksheets with my students because it is becoming a game for them to identify all the mistakes within each unit. As an English teacher, I try to avoid giving my students worksheets with mistakes. I know it happens, but my students and I have found so many mistakes, that I'm questioning the use of the product within my classroom. I wanted to get in contact with you before providing a rating. Thank you for your time!
Hi Tara,
Thank you for contacting me. I have hired a proofreader to edit these resources. Completely revised versions should be posted within two to three weeks. Thank you for your patience.
UPDATE: Both books and PowerPoints have been updated!
Thank you for sharing your vocabulary resources. I have loved using the materials in my classroom so far this year. However, I have found quite a few small errors on the worksheets. I don't like to give my students worksheets with errors/typos, and they have started to make comments about the mistakes. Thanks!
Hi Tara! Thanks for getting in touch. Please make sure you are using the latest version of the resource. If you are still finding errors, please email me and I will correct them ASAP.
Is it possible to preview on of the unit assessments?
Hi Jasmin. I am now seeing that the unit assessment is not included in the preview. I will have to fix that. In the meantime, if you click on the previews of the individual listings for Book 1 and 2, you will see what an assessment looks like. The links to the individual books are in the product description of this bundle.
Book 1, List 9...not sure if I would consider the word philander appropriate for grades 5-9!
Thank you for the fix! These are the best spelling lists we have found!
Sorry, I was thinking of more mild definitions for the word. But now I see some inappropriate definitions. I changed the word to hemophilia:-) Thanks for letting me know.
Love this product. It really is well-done. My kids are learning stems a good bit better than they have in the past. I have one problem, though, and that is that I keep finding minor typos. Not a big deal, but I would like to just be able to correct them myself when I find them. Is it possible to get a word copy so that I can edit? (for instance 5F #5 in the first book says "Who's autobiography" instead of "Whose autobiography." Like I said, so minor, but I don't like having typos in my ELA stuff and would just like to be able to correct.
Hi Amy! Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, I did not make this resource in Word. It was made in Adobe Illustrator. I do my best correct all possible errors I can find. I will correct this particular error by the end of the day today.
I'm teaching reluctant 10th graders next year and wonder if this would be too low/immature for them. Preview looks to be ok but any insight would be appreciated.
Hi Amy! I think both books would be fine, but book 2 should especially work as it's a little more challenging.
What have you found to be the best way for students to organize this? Do you suggest them putting the packet pages into a binder and keeping the concentration games/cards/etc. in an attached envelope?
Hi Brenda! You can use a there-prong folder for students to keep their printable pages in. Within this folder, you can glue in a small manila envelop that the students can use to keep all the games and sorts. I will work on getting a visual of this folder up on my blog.
First off, I love this unit and it has been super helpful for my students!! I have found some typos in the answer keys for analogies towards the end of book one. Do you have an updated version I can download with corrections? If not I'm happy to send you the unit # and questions that have typos! Thanks so much and I really love this unit!
Hi Courtney! Thanks so much for getting in touch with me. You can always download the latest updated versions under "my purchases". However, if there are still ones I missed, I would love for you email me them and I will fix immediately. GotToTeach@icloud.com
I love your Books 1 & 2-I'll be purchasing them but I'm wondering if you offer them in a mega bundle with the your Greek & Latin Roots Interactive Notebook. I cannot wait to use these when I change grades next year! I've purchased several of your other products and I love the quality and ease of use. Thank you for making such wonderful products!
Hi Alisa! Thank you for the kind words! All three of those items (along with several others) are part of my Ultimate Vocabulary Bundle. You can check it out here:
