Description
Greek and Latin Roots! Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas.
This HUGE 282-page resource covers over 60 Greek and Latin roots and 200 different words. Created for grades 5-8.

I can not get this file to download and I am so disappointed as I really want to use it. It will only copy the first couple pages and that is it.
This is not a spiral review. The weekly content has standards that have not yet been covered. Students can't have homework on things that they haven't learned yet.

This resource is not designed around a particular scope and sequence since many teachers follow different timelines.

Since Daily Spiral Reviews cover all standards, students are exposed to concepts they may not have had formal instruction on. Unfamiliar content presents a great opportunity for you to build background knowledge and assess where your students are before you even teach a specific lesson.

The best way to use this spiral reveiw is to begin with whole-group lessons where you model and discuss each activity. I don't worry too much if there haven't been formal lessons on a particular concept; I treat those items more as a preview. After a few weeks, the students really start grasping the format, and you can begin to transfer the workload to them. Eventually, when the students work independently on the review, you will spend time correcting and discussing their work in class.

As mentioned above, students will encounter concepts they are unfamiliar with. This is a GOOD thing, I promise! We don't always have the answers or know the procedures to solve problems. It's beneficial to expose students to "unknowns"; they become less sensitive to the uncomfortable feeling of "not knowing" and are less likely to panic.

However, you can always use the editable version (open in PowerPoint) to remove/change any review items you like.

There is a problem with this resource. I purchased the digital version. However, there is no link for me to click on that gives me access to the documents virtually. I'm reaching out to the seller, please provide some guidance or refund me if possible? Thank you so much.
It was a good resource, but the inability to make any edits in the .PDF made sharing it digitally with the class nearly impossible. Very disappointed with this aspect. Good resource but this is a glaring issue.
The content was too hard for third grade. There needs to be a build in content and foundation. The skills were way over most of my students heads.
Also this is a rip off to not include the answer key with the questions. Why are you having people buy two separate things.

Is there a list of the roots that are included?
Hello, Julia! Yes, if you download the preview, you will see a list of all roots and words covered in the resource.
Hi! I'm curious what order you suggest using these resources. Previously I was teaching one root at a time, so I'm wondering how I can switch to teaching multiples at a time without causing confusion. Should I show the slideshow first and introduce the vocab words? Then assign the doodle notes or the packets? Thanks!
Hello! Each unit is designed to last a week. Starting off with the PowerPoint is best. Then you can break up the exercises and other activities throughout the week.
Does this resource contain the same words found in your "Greek and Latin Roots Sketch Notes"?
Hello. I LOVE this resource! I was wondering though if you could add two things.
First, I wish it had spiral review on the assessments.
Second, I wish there were assessments of the roots themselves. It wouldn't need to be for each unit, but maybe every four units. Tha k you for considering!
Thanks for the suggestion, Autumn. While I can't commit to adding this content, I'll definitely consider it for future updates.

Unit 2 Test has a typo on 9 choice d. "Women to do not have all of the rights that men do."
Is there a way to convert the pages to Spanish?
Hello! Thank you so much for letting me know. I have corrected the error.
During the Black Friday sale I accidently purchased the print version instead of the digital one. I've been using the digital version of Book 1 purchased by my school. Is there any way to change my purchase to the digital version?
Hello! Due to the digital nature of these resources, we don't offer returns or exchanges. However, if you have yet to download a resource, you can contact TpT to see if they can make an exception. They will usually issue a refund if they see that the file has not yet been downloaded. Please contact TpT so they can troubleshoot this with you directly. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Contact
If I have purchased your Book 1 and now I am ready to buy book 2, do you give any type of discount for this situation? When I bought book 1 I wasn't sure how long it would take me to get through all of it since I was at a new school. If not, I totally understand and will be purchasing Book 2 anyways as I love this resource.
Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, there isn't a way for me to offer any sort of discount for this.
