Description

Greek and Latin Roots! Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas.

This HUGE 282-page resource covers over 60 Greek and Latin roots and 200 different words. Created for grades 5-8.

Excellent Resource

I have seen so much growth in my students' vocabulary skills since I started using this resource. Thank you!

Rawan M.

Great resource for teaching Greek and Latin roots

This resource is excellent for teaching Greek and Latin roots! The worksheets are well organized, easy to use, and perfect for reinforcing morphology skills. My students benefited from the clear structure and practice opportunities. Great for vocabulary development and reading comprehension.

Connie C.

Amazing resource!!

This morphology resource is amazing! We have used it for years!

Sarah B.

Love these!

Our ELA curriculum was a bit lacking in vocabulary, so this was a great additional resource! It took a bit more time to teach and explain at the beginning, but once the students got used to the format, most of the students could complete these pretty independently.

Catherine R.

Amazing Resource

Perfect resource to go along with the sketch notes for Greek and Latin roots with definitions, practice pages, and assessments :)

Hi how do you purchase ?

Teacher Thrive

Hello,
If you are having trouble ordering, please contact TpT so they can troubleshoot this with you directly. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Contact

Nicole W.

I am looking for your Book 2 that is compatible for google classroom also. Do you have the option to purchase both pdf and google doc.?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Nicole! You can find the Google Forms version of Book 2 here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/DIGITAL-Greek-and-Latin-Roots-Book-2-Distance-Learning-5351819

Unfortunately, TpT doesn't have a function that allows us to easily create custom bundles in a way that ensures customers always have the latest version of their resources, so we don't offer this option on TpT. We do have a Build Your Own Bundle option on our off-site store that you can check out here: https://teacherthrive.com/byob/

Fatemeh Honey M.

I love your products! My school will be doing distance learning for at least the first 4 weeks of school. I have purchased some of your products in the past. Will there be a digital update for the Greek and Latin Roots and Affixes bundles or will I need to purchase another bundle to access the digital version?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Fatemeh! Thanks for reaching out. These are separate resources as the digital versions take 100s of hours to create. Many digital resources out there are simply an image of a worksheet/printable embedded into a Google Slide with blank text boxes pasted on top of them. Creating digital resources in this manner is a simple process that only takes a few hours, and you are more than welcome to adapt the printable version as described for your personal use. Our digital versions are all created in Google Forms, so teachers can save time using the self-grading feature, which is not available in Google Slides. As mentioned above, creating Google Forms is very labor and time-intensive, so we decided to list these separately. You are more than welcome to use the printable versions you own to create your own Google Forms to use with your students only.

I love your work! I used Book 1 for my homeschooler, and now I find myself teaching ELA for middle school. I would like to use Book 2 for my class. However, my school is watching my copy number closely. Have you heard any suggestions on how to use this resource effectively without copying exercise?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Becky! I do have a digital/paperless version here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/DIGITAL-Greek-and-Latin-Roots-Book-2-Distance-Learning-5351819

Is there a book 3 that starts with unit 21 meet me in the middle

Jaime Guidry

We have a Book 1 and a Book 2. Book 1 contains Unit 20: Meet Me in the Middle.

Anonymous

Do Book 1 and 2 contain the same or different roots? Is there a particular order or logic in the way they are taught?

Jaime Guidry

The two books contain different roots and are intended to be taught in the order presented in the material.

Holly A.

I have moved from Book 1 to Book 2. I can't find the vocabulary cards that have the root and the words that go with that root. I used this each week as a classroom display/reference for my students and they often looked at it. Can you tell me if this is available for book 2?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Holly! Yes, those are also included in Book 2. They are start on page 175 of the PDF.

Jen Dulaney

I bought both books in the beginning of this current academic year and I'm just realizing (after already making all the copies for the next few weeks) that by Unit 5 in book two, the worksheets are the same as book 1! However, the powerpoints for book 2 are new words. Has this mistake been fixed?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Jen! I just checked the file, and Unit 5 in Book 2 is "Head to Toe" and Unit 5 in Book 1 is "Express Yourself." I don't see a duplicate unit in either of the two books.
