Description
Word analogies are one of the most effective ways to build vocabulary while simultaneously developing critical thinking skills. Unlike vocabulary activities that require students to memorize word definitions, word analogies develop a deep understanding of a word meaning by exploring the relationships between words. When students form logical connections between words, they create a mental network of ideas, which deepens understanding and increases retention. While solving word analogies, students are contextualizing the words as they search for word relationships.

What is included in this resource:
This resource is PACKED with materials that will allow you to effectively use word analogies with your students. You will be provided with tools to break down word analogies in a scaffolded manner so that your students are successful from the very beginning. There are several versions of the materials included which will allow you to perfectly differentiate to meet the needs of your students. •Instructional PowerPoint: To be used for introducing word analogies and strategies to solve them
•150 word analogies: These have been expertly crafted using Tier Two words. Tier Two words for this level are approximately at a fifth-grade level.
Note: There are no grade level labels (you will only see “Level 5”) on these materials, which means you can use them with any grade. These word analogies are organized in 15 sets of 10 (10 analogies per set).
•Leveled Printables: The included printables are provided in four different formats to allow you to deliver the exact level of support your students need.
•Task Cards: The analogies are also provided in task card format.
•Google Classroom Version: Each of the 15 sets is available as a Google Form quiz for those teachers using Google Classroom/Google Drive.
•Teaching Notes: Tips, tricks, and instructional rationale are provided for every component.

I just purchased this product but I did not get the " 15 “force copy” links that will take you to the Google sheets files". Can you let me know if I am doing something wrong?
Hello, Florence! The force copy links are on page 271 of the PDF file.
Is it supposed to be just the one powerpoint and the PDF? In the download, there are two powerpoint files. One titled "Level5Analogies" and another titled "~$Level5Analogies". I could not get the "~$Level5Analogies" to open, so I'm not sure if I am missing something and need to troubleshoot.

I downloaded the file but don't see the link to the google forms.
Hi Lara. The Google Links are located towards the end of the PDF. The table of contents will tell you what pages those are on.

I bought the Analogies Grade 5. When I tried to open the powerpoint, it says there is a problem with it. Is there another way the powerpoint can been checked?

Hi there,
I use your Get to the Root Of It regularly with my fifth graders and we love the analogies. Can you tell me if these are repeats of the analogies in that resource or are they different? I'll wait to purchase until I hear back from you - I'm assuming these are all different, but just want to make sure.

I am a first year teacher, and so excited to use analogies to help expand my student's vocabulary as they are struggling this year with it after losing part of last year. I can't figure out what common core standards I can attach to my lesson (I need it for admin). Any suggestions? Thank you so much, I have loved using your morning work/grammar/reading passages this year!

Hi Noelle. If you are having issues downloading the file, then yes, you will need to contact TpT. We simply upload our files to the platform. TpT's platform encrypts them and prepares them for download. If there is a download issue, only TpT can address that.
I did not receive the Google Classroom version in my $6 purchase. One of the Powerpoint options in the zip file would not allow me open and there was no Google classroom information.
