Description
Word analogies are one of the most effective ways to build vocabulary while simultaneously developing critical thinking skills. Unlike vocabulary activities that require students to memorize word definitions, word analogies develop a deep understanding of a word meaning by exploring the relationships between words. When students form logical connections between words, they create a mental network of ideas, which deepens understanding and increases retention. While solving word analogies, students are contextualizing the words as they search for word relationships.
When students work with analogies, they…
•expand and deepen their vocabulary.
•understand the relationships between ideas and words.
•recognize and understand multiple-meaning words.
•think critically and apply logical reasoning.
•learn to decipher word meanings based on context.
•build a network of understanding that improves retention and aids future learning.

This was a fun resource for my kids, however, the kids thought it was too easy.
The resource is made well, but my students struggled to stay engaged with it!
Excellent source to use for my summer school students.
I really appreciate that there are differentiated versions of the worksheets, so students can work in the same class on the same content but those who require the bridge sentences provided for additional support can utilize this feature. The more I have used this resource, the more I have found that each set may have one or two questions where the possible responses provide more than one correct answer, so in these cases we would discuss on the fly and I would simply give points for either response.
This is a great resource to help build word analogy skills. I used this resource in my intervention classroom.

Hello, Christine! We're sorry for the inconvenience. I am showing that everything looks fine with the file. Are you happening to open this in KeyNote on a Mac? If so, it will not show up properly. You can save the PowerPoint separately and open the slides in Google Slides and everything should open up just fine.
