Great product, but I would've liked more directions. Also, the second page doesn't print upside down. It took a little while to figure out how to put it together. Once figured out, it was a great foldable and the kids had fun with it!
I love this format, but this is more of a preview with instructions needed than a review. I started this day one of 6th grade and realized much of this had not been taught yet. It is a great review, but my goal for this was an independent transition. I will reserve judgement until further down the road. If you are teaching 6th grade at the beginning of the year, you will need to do some direct instruction with this.
Hi Debi! I use this a preview and a review. The first two weeks are completed whole group, with me modeling each item. After a few weeks the students can complete alone; I definitely don't expect them to know all the concepts at first and they know that some of it will be new information. The most important component is correcting and discussing the work whole group; that's where so much learning takes place. After 4-5 weeks your students will take off, I promise! They not only understand all of the concepts but they are familiar with the format as well.
I think these are so great looking and I have shared your link with a few people who saw them in my room. I've gotten a few comments, and agree, that mp6 should be more focused on precision of language as opposed to getting a correct answer.
This is SO helpful for all of my social studies classes. Whether I use them for an article on Indian Schools or to evaluate a film, students appreciate the ability to choose a task or work together on a whole topic. These are flexible cards - just swap a few words and you have a specific question for whatever you are doing in class.
The format encourages kids to write more in a bulleted type answer rather in the complete sentences that I require. But overall it was a good product.

i downloaded my purchase to my mac and it is asking for a password to open it. what is the password? Thank You
Hello. You do not need a password to open the file. Please open with Adobe reader.
So all the cards in deck 1, set 1 would go in the fish pond face down? If I had aqua in my hand I would ask "Do you have water?" If the answer was no, I would draw a card? Then if a student had aqua in their hand and drew water, they would put them both down as a pair? Could it be used as concentration too?
Hello, Amy! Yes, the game would be played just as you described, and yes, they could be used to play concentration.
Are there directions in the final product for how to play with these cards besides that it’s a Go Fish game, or can you share how you use it? I did see the suggestion to print back sides in two different colors but am not sure how to accomplish that either.
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, there are explicit instructions in the full resource.
Are there blank cards to add your own roots/words to?
Thanks for reaching out! There is not.
How should I set this file up to print? Is the black and white page the back to all the other cards? There just wasn't clarification in the direction. Thanks in advance!
Hello! Yes, the black and white page are for the backside of each card.
How do you play the game? Is it a matching game?
Hello! It's similar to "go fish." There are different size decks students can play with to increase/decrease difficulty.
