What’s included in this resource?

This resource is an extensive collection of 25 different PowerPoint presentations, each one covering two to four different affixes. Each presentation includes ten high-utility words, one word per slide. Each slide includes: a clear, concise definition, the word used in context, and a carefully selected image that will further emphasize the meaning and application of the word. Download the preview for a complete look at the Unit 1 PowerPoint.

These PowerPoints are an effective stand-alone resource for your classroom. However, if you are looking to extend and deepen your students’ vocabulary skills, then check out my All About Affixes Practice Printables. The units from this book are perfectly aligned to the PowerPoints within this resource.

Depth and Complexity Novel Study for The Sign of the Beaver
Kati S.

This is a very in depth and advanced level skill review for this novel. It would be great to have a key to go along with some of the chapter reviews...thanks :)

Teacher Thrive

Thank you for the feedback. An answer key is not included because the questions are intentionally open-ended and can be answered in multiple ways.

5th Grade Daily GRAMMAR Language Spiral Review Morning Work [Editable] Test Prep
Angela S.

It is way to hard to start the year. I can not do several mini-lesson everyday.

Teacher Thrive

This resource is not designed around a particular scope and sequence since many teachers follow different timelines.

Since Daily Spiral Reviews cover all standards, students are exposed to concepts they may not have had formal instruction on. Unfamiliar content presents a great opportunity for you to build background knowledge and assess where your students are before you even teach a specific lesson.

The best way to use this spiral reveiw is to begin with whole-group lessons where you model and discuss each activity. I don't worry too much if there haven't been formal lessons on a particular concept; I treat those items more as a preview. After a few weeks, the students really start grasping the format, and you can begin to transfer the workload to them. Eventually, when the students work independently on the review, you will spend time correcting and discussing their work in class.

As mentioned above, students will encounter concepts they are unfamiliar with. This is a GOOD thing, I promise! We don't always have the answers or know the procedures to solve problems. It's beneficial to expose students to "unknowns"; they become less sensitive to the uncomfortable feeling of "not knowing" and are less likely to panic.

However, you can always use the editable version (open in PowerPoint) to remove/change any review items you like.

I am unable to open Units 1-4. Unlike the other units which I can open, their title is ~$Unit 1, ~$Unit 2 ~$Unit 3 ~$Unit 4

Not sure how to open them. Thank you for your help.

The Off The Clock Teacher

I know that this aligns with the interactive notebook unit but does this align with the "get to the root of it" books? Does the books come with a powerpoint or teaching option alongside it or just the booklets if not?

Teacher Thrive

Hello. Thanks for asking! The practice printables are available separately here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Prefixes-and-Suffixes-Practice-Printables-2271465

Fun under the Sun

I have a roots &Affix sheet from you plus a powerpoint that goes with it. I printed it out, but now I'd like to find the digital version. I purchased your whole bundle but I can't find it in there. Was it in there or was it form your website-like a free resource? It has puzzle pieces that fit together and the top words are inter-rupt-ion. Then it lists other prefixes, root, and suffixes underneath. Can you help guide me?

Teacher Thrive

Thanks for reaching out, Shirlene. I'm sorry, but I cannot think of what resource this is off the top of my head. Would you be able to email us with a screenshot of the page you are asking about? Our email is info@teacherthrive.com. Looking forward to your response!

Patricia I.

Does this product match the affixes in the Prefixes and Suffixes Interactive Notebook?

Thank you

Teacher Thrive

Hi Patricia,
Yes, it does. They both cover the same affixes.
