Love the format of these vocabulary units! The variety of the activities is nice while at the same time maintaining the same format for each unit from week to week.
I have been using the Get to the Root of It resource for several years and was happy to find this resource for prefixes and suffixes. I was looking for an organized way to teach these affixes as I am not satisfied with the material my school district provides. This is also a great resource because my students are familiar with the format of the lessons and the tests.
This is the second product I have purchased from the same seller and they are so helpful!!! Low prep and easy for students to follow and stay engaged.
As someone who has used the other G&L bundles, for years, adding this Affixes was an no- brainer! Just a detailed and easy to use resource! The words are more challenging than the other G&L resources, but I like it. Exposure to these high level words, at a young age, is great! I have used with 6th grade and will be using with gifted 5th this coming school year. I am excited, definitely my preferred method of teaching word study.
Very easy to implement into my current word work routine.

I have been using your grammar products and they are fabulous! I appreciate how the multiple short activities/practices create a classroom rhythm/structure with which students feel challenged and yet successful. I would like to add this word work (your roots and affixes bundle) to my lessons next year. By any chance, do you have sketch notes for these affixes lessons in the works?
Hi Nicolle! Thanks for reaching out and for all of your kind words! We do not have plans to create sketch notes particularly for this resource, but we do recommend pairing it with the Prefixes and Suffixes Interactive Notebook, which is another great notetaking activity!

Hello!
I've already purchased these now the digital version is available. Am I able to download the digital version as well?
These are a separate purchase as they take hundreds of hours to create.
I offer a discount for the first 48 hours to help offset the cost for teachers who may have already purchased the printable version.
Which grade levels would the word list 1-10 be aligned to for common core standards? Thanks
I purchased the All About Affixes and the Greek and Latin Roots Bundle. I would love to use these in Google Classroom. Would you be willing to convert these to Google Slides and provide the link in order to do so?
Hi Kristen! Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, I am unable to do so at this time.
Three questions:
- What fonts do you use for the text?
- What patterns and clipart did you use?
Thanks!
The fonts are Festivo and Century Gothic. The graphics are from shutterstock--They are not clipart.
This also would be great if added into quizlet.com!
Thanks for the suggestion, Lisa. I will look into that.
Hi! I'm an ESL teacher, and I am a bit confused about the "analogies" section in your description. I'm not sure how it affects the learning with your ressources. Please tell me more so I can judge whether it is do-able with my ESL students. Thank you!
Hi Brittany! I am not quite sure what you are asking. Are you looking for the rationale of using analogies? If so, you can read more about that here: https://teacherthrive.com/2017/11/the-why-and-how-of-teaching-analogies.html
Feel free to email me for further clarification. info@teacherthrive.com
Is it possible to get all of the affix materials to coincide with each other? The interactive notebook words (pre-filled) do not align with the practice printables. At least three or four words per unit do not match. I noticed this with the roots as well with the interactive notebook, practice printable, and powerpoint. I appreciate the multiple words, but if the students are using the interactive notebook, I would like for the practice printable to align. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE your products, and I can certainly cope. I just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask! :)
Hello! Thanks for reaching out. I purposely chose different words to offer more variety when teaching the various roots. I include a blank version of each INB activity so that teachers can use the exact words from the practice printables books if they they do not want to cover additional words.
I already own all of the Get to the Root Of It materials, do you offer a bundle of the Affix materials?
Hello! I am sorry, but I do not. I avoid bundling items that are in another bundle because it gets a little confusion and people were buying things they already owned.
I think I'm in love! Before I buy, do you happen to have a list of which affixes are included?
If it makes it easier for you to reply, my email is heatherlhilliard@gmail.com.
Thanks in advance for your time! I love your work!
Hi Heather! If you download the preview file the first page contains a list of all affixes that are covered:-). Thanks for the kind words. Reach out any time you have a question!
