Description
These fourth grade math sketch notes (AKA doodle pages) are a powerful learning and teaching tool for whole number place value. They cover essential math concepts and procedures for students in a visually appealing way. You can use this resource to supplement any math curriculum, and they are perfect for previewing/pre-teaching or reviewing/reinforcing.
These sketch pages are like mini anchor charts that your students actively create and can be referred to in the future.
While these were specifically created for 4th grade, there are no grade-level indicators on the student materials, so you can use these with older students.
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
- Blank student note page (two sizes: 8.5 × 11 & composition notebook size for INBs)
- Detailed answer key
- Step-by-step PowerPoint
GUIDED NOTE-TAKING
Guiding your students through the note-taking process is so easy and requires almost zero preparation!
- PowerPoint: Each sketch note page comes with a step-by-step PowerPoint that you can use to guide your students as they complete their notes.
- Document Camera: Use a document camera to project a blank copy of the notes. Use the answer key provided to complete the note page in front of your students.
WHY SKETCH?
Sketch notes present your students with a meaningful and engaging activity they will love. Doodle note-taking activates verbal and visual modalities to capture concepts. The whole brain is absorbed in hearing, synthesizing, and retaining ideas. This high level of engagement helps students retain the content and leaves little room for distraction.

We are using this resource to help our student prepare for SBAC's and they are very helpful with summarizing. They also are useful for homework.
I wish I could get my money back. It repeats itself over and over. So many language concepts are left out. I wouldn't have purchased it if I knew that ahead of time.
We are sorry to hear this, Joanne. We do provide two weeks of material in the preview file so that teachers can assess if this resource will be a good fit. The repetition is part of the spiral review format, which helps students retain the concepts.
This does not connect with google slides or my classroom.
Upon opening this resource, I noticed that the resource itself varied from the preview that was presented. the topics are highly specific, and the pages require intricate cutting and gluing. However, instructions on how to do so to pass our to students or even for myself are not provided. Instead, there is a one sentence summary and small photo of what the completed page should look like. I am extremely unhappy with this purchase, and I wish I could return it. The amount of time needed to decipher, sort, and create instructions for each page makes this more trouble than if I had not bought it in the first place.
This resource is definitely not worth the cost. The pages are simply scanned in with a Google form as an add-on. The Google Form is not student-friendly. I wasted $20 and still have to create my own resources for students. I have never in all my years of purchasing from TpT been so disappointed in a product.

Are these editable? I would like to add the millions place on the chart
Hello! Unfortunately, I am unable to provide an editable version of this resource because I created it using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. My fifth grade versions to go up to the millions place.
Yes, I would like to know that too - grade 5?
Yes, I will be making a set that is specifically for 5th grade. I am hoping to start those in about 6 months.
Do you have Math Notes for fifth grade? Thank you
Not specifically for 5th, but I plan to make them when I finish 4th.
