Description
Time to Tile: Decimal Place Value on a Number Line is a hands-on activity that takes students’ thinking beyond procedures and rote memorization. This engaging resource activates critical thinking and problem-solving skills, all while developing algebraic thinking. Students must place 10 number tiles (0-9) on the Time to Tile cards in order to identify various decimal numbers on number lines. Each number line is created based on a “zoomed in” portion of the number line above it, which helps students recognize that in a multi-digit number, a digit in one place represents 10 times as much as it represents in the place to its right and 1/10 of what it represents in the place to its left.
This resource is now provided in printable and digital formats (Google Slides).
This resource includes:
•30 different Time to Tile cards
•An “Answer Recording Sheet,” where students can record their answers so they can be corrected later. This allows the resource to be used as a perfect independent or center activity.
•Answer keys
•Management and organization tips for successfully implementing Time to Tile in your classroom.

Clear Teacher-Guided Notes
Great resource for students to follow along to write notes when introducing the topic.
added resource
I bought this resource to add to my other activities and it provides many benefits. The slides are helpful and it comes with good practice pages.
Great Resource
I really like the way that this resource is laid out, and everything is available and easy to use. I wish that it included more parts of speech available, as my 4th graders still struggle with those concepts.
Great way to start the day
I have used the math spiral in other grades and it has been so helpful. Switching grades this year I decided to try the grammar spiral, and some of the questions can be tricky to answer. I use this as morning work and a math warm-up
creative way to teach affixes
Loved the idea of using interactive notebooks to teach affixes. Found this resource very engaging for students.
