Description
Time to Tile: Addition triangles is a hands-on activity that takes students’ thinking beyond procedures and rote memorization. This engaging resource activates critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and algebraic reasoning while developing a deep, conceptual understanding of addition. Students must place 10 number tiles (0-9) on each vertex of the 9 triangles to match the sums inside of the triangles. Each card provides students with a clue by indicating where one number tile must be placed first.
This resource is now provided in printable and digital formats (Google Slides).
This resource includes:
- 30 different Time to Tile cards
- An “Answer Recording Sheet,” where students can record their answers so they can be corrected later. This allows the resource to be used as a perfect independent or center activity.
- Answer keys
- Management and organization tips for successfully implementing Time to Tile in your classroom.

Very, very hard. Not suitable for my remedial 4th graders. I hope to use it later in the year.
Hi Kim! I hope that you will stick with it! I promise that it will get easier as time goes on. I also have a 3rd grade version (it doesn't say the grade level on the resource:-) that you might want to check out.
Haven't used these yet, but I can't wait!
Thank you!
Great product, but I would've liked more directions. Also, the second page doesn't print upside down. It took a little while to figure out how to put it together. Once figured out, it was a great foldable and the kids had fun with it!
I love this format, but this is more of a preview with instructions needed than a review. I started this day one of 6th grade and realized much of this had not been taught yet. It is a great review, but my goal for this was an independent transition. I will reserve judgement until further down the road. If you are teaching 6th grade at the beginning of the year, you will need to do some direct instruction with this.
Hi Debi! I use this a preview and a review. The first two weeks are completed whole group, with me modeling each item. After a few weeks the students can complete alone; I definitely don't expect them to know all the concepts at first and they know that some of it will be new information. The most important component is correcting and discussing the work whole group; that's where so much learning takes place. After 4-5 weeks your students will take off, I promise! They not only understand all of the concepts but they are familiar with the format as well.

Hi, I can't see where else to put this, sorry if it's in the wrong spot.
Just did the Math Tiles: Addition Triangles with my kiddos today and came up with 2 errors. Card 23 and 28. On card 23, the only way it works, is if the purple 7 (in the middle of the card) is an 11. On Card 28, it seems to only work is if the red 11 (along the right hand side) is a 14. Please let me know if we have made the error or if it needs to be fixed and re-downloaded. Cheers!
Hello! Thank you so much for letting us know. We apologize for this inconvenience. We have corrected the error.
