I like the set-up, but I have to go in and change several things b/c the exercises don't require the students to do what is required of the actual Common Core standard. Ex, students do know figurative language. The Daily Language wants the students to find the origin, meaning & write a sentence. The origin is not part of the standard. I feel it's better for the students to determine the meaning using context clues (instead of just looking it up), then write their own sentence. Instead, I give them a sentence using the idiom. Then they must determine, the meaning using the context clues I've provided in the sentence. Then they must write their own sentence using the idiom. I do the same thing for the proverb/adage on the Wednesday section.
The prefix section- I change it around & have the students to identify the prefix. Determine the meaning of the prefix, then then the meaning of the word. I do understand that when creating this product, it's created to serve teachers all over that may have different standard that they must follow. I'd like to send examples of how I tweak the Daily Language.
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. While the origin is not part of the standard, students find this information very interesting and knowing the origin does help students retain the meaning. I will also add that the act of finding the origin is a common core standard: "Consult reference materials (e.g., dictionaries, glossaries, thesauruses), both print and digital, to find the pronunciation and determine or clarify the precise meaning of key words and phrases." I am happy to hear that you have been able to adapt this resource to meet your teaching needs, though.
Kind of high expectations before reading -- concepts are challenging for many younger students with nothing concrete from which to build references. With the right group, it would be great.
great resource
Very clear. My only suggestion would be more text structures and lines in the boxes.
I downloaded this file and had a hard time printing the interactive cards in the format I see on the screen. It is printing in portrait and not landscape to fit the 3M sticky notes. I will keep trying to figure this out.
Hi Monique. This is the first I am hearing of this issue. Please make sure you are opening and printing the file from the latest version of Adobe Reader. If you still need help, contact TpT customer support. They will resolve the issue.

I am having trouble locating the comprehension quiz google forms links that are mentioned on the PD class videos. Please advise where I can find these. Thank you!
Hi Laura,
Could you please email me at info@teacherthrive.com so I can look up your account in the PD portal?
Hello, My district purchased this for me and I am not seeing it in my account. Please let me know what I need to do. Thank you
Not to worry. Please contact TpT so they can troubleshoot this with you directly. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Contact
How do we assess our students to know which level they are in, with your program?
Thanks for reaching out! There is an assessment and placement tool included!
Hi! Will this resource include more levels? I like to have fluency resources for all of my students, but this resource does not have high enough levels for some of my highest learners. Planning for next year! Thank you!
Hi Sienna. Thanks for reaching out! low Reading Fluency is designed for struggling readers. Currently, we do not plan to add passages above 1100L. This program might not be a great fit for your students who are reading at 1100L+.
Is anyone else having trouble with the online version? My student in on an ipad and after he reads his cold read it takes so long for the transfer to take place. When he uses it on my lap top there isn't a problem. Frustration for sure- I haven't been able to resolve this issue with Thrive or my district. I am asking my district for a desk top computer to see if that is any better.
Hi Terri. If you are having trouble with Flow Reading Fluency Digital, please contact us at flow@teacherthrive.com.
Hello! I only have desktop computers in my classroom. Is there a way to access the audio files without scanning a QR code? Thank you!
Yes, the MP3s are included in the resource, so you can access them without the QR codes.
Hello! I use flow fluency and pay $120 a year for access to the company's materials for my students. Just curious - are these materials merely based on their program? Or are you charging money for print copies downloaded from the flow fluency site?
It sounds like you are subscribed to Flow Reading Fluency Digital. As the name suggests, your subscription is 100% digital and does not include printable materials. We created Flow Reading Fluency Digital to leverage technology so that teachers could address some of the common obstacles with the traditional, paper-based program. Such obstacles include: scheduling one-on-one time with students, tracking student data, and managing the paperwork.
This TpT product is for the paper-based version of the program you are subscribed to. If you're looking for a one-time cost program, then you may want to look into this paper-based version, especially if you have the resources (volunteers, teacher's aid, etc.) and time to meet with your students one-to-one. One purpose of the digital version is to save you time and make sure your students can move through the content at their pace.
Most of the teachers we work with don't have time to meet with students one-on-one, which is required for this paper-based version.
Deciding between the two versions (digital vs. paper-based) really depends on what resources you have available and your individual teaching situation.
While these passages are the same as the digital versions, non of the printable versions in this listing are available in the digital app.
