4th Grade Daily MATH Spiral Review Morning Work [Editable] Test Prep
Julia J.

Not appropriate for beginning of the year

This is very hard for me to implement until almost the third quarter. Week one has decimals, and my fourth graders don't learn about decimals until the third quarter. It also jumps into division and bigger multiplication early. I wish it had a few weeks of third-grade review.

5th Grade MATH Spiral Review & Weekly Assessments Quizzes [PRINTABLE] Test Prep

Not a "spiral" review

I wanted to like this so much because it was exactly what I wanted. But, Week 1 already starts talking about coordinate grids and volume, standards that aren't covered until later on in the school year. I wish it was organized by the order the standards are taught throughout the school year instead of introducing end-of-year concepts in the first few weeks.

Great Activities, but Limited Direct Instruction

This resource is advertised as a week-long unit, but in practice it functions more like one day of direct instruction followed by several activity days. There is only one PowerPoint for teaching, with the remaining materials focused on practice.

I expected a more balanced structure with instruction and assessment spread across multiple days. For example, I was able to use the PowerPoint and the second day’s worksheet within a single class period, and the “scoot” activity worked well for a separate day. However, I’m unsure how I’ll incorporate the remaining sketch notes, which might have been more effective if directly integrated into the initial instruction.

One major area for improvement is alignment between instruction and assessment. The assessments and task cards include concepts like “to be” verbs and auxiliary verbs, but these are not introduced or modeled in the PowerPoint. This created confusion for my students and could easily be developed into an additional day of instruction.
Overall, the materials are well-designed and engaging, but the unit would benefit from more comprehensive instruction and clearer alignment between teaching and assessment.

Hello, I am correcting my assessments and struggling with question 1. The answer key says that the introductory element, "To get better," (sentence 1) is a clause. Can you tell me why this is true? To me, it mirrors the "To get in shape for the Olympics," phrase from the PowerPoint. Nothing like being humbled by 5th-grade grammar! :) Thank you.

Hello, Laura! Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. This was an error in the assessment answer key. It should have been labeled "phrase." I apologize for this inconvenience.

Hello, I just went through the PowerPoint for this lesson with my students, and there are a couple of mistakes on Slide 10 that I wanted to inform you of:

"In the spring, we will plant strawberries in garden." -there needs to be a word before garden like "our garden," "the garden," etc.

and

"Surprisingly, the sugar-free desserts where delicious." -it should be "were" not "where"

Hi, I am having difficulty with the digital version of the task cards. I made a copy and assigned in my student's google classroom. They completed the task and submitted it but they cannot see their accuracy and their score does not show up for me. I am rather new using google classroom so hoping you can maybe help. I have purchased several of these from you. Thank you.

Hi There! Please check out this short video tutorial that will walk you through the steps: https://youtu.be/hNqZElFIQ3I

In your sketch notes, you've stated that an introductory clause can stand alone. However, the examples you give begin with dependent clauses, and these cannot stand alone. I may have misunderstood the notes...could you clarify this for me? Thanks!
