I love a good spiral review!

I love a resource that is ready to go without any prep on my part! This resource gets the job done! Your 6th grader will have daily practice with all of the major standards in grammar for the year!

Year-long review

While this covers standards for 6th grade ELA, I wish there is more variety in the types of questions. It is also difficult to review all of the concepts when some of them are taught later in the year.

Reviews a wide range of topics and drills them daily. Good warm up activity.

Hello. Is there an answer key for this review?

Teacher Thrive

Hello! Yes, answer keys are provided.

Gabrielle K.

I read your copyright, does this include posting it on a website such as schoology where only parents, students, and administration has access? I want to put the resources up for students who may be absent or need extra support at home from a parent. Thank you!

Teacher Thrive

Sorry for the delay in responding; I am currently displaced by the Davis Fire.

Yes, the use you describe is permissible. Thank you for asking!

Esther Wilhelm

In Week 6, The incorrect pronoun shift (Thursday, question 1) is tripping me up. The sentence says, "Every man, woman, and child wore their hats at the park." The answer key says that THEIR is an incorrect shift. Could you help me understand so I can explain it to my students?

Online I found the rule, "Compound Antecedents can be joined with “and” or “or/nor.” If they are joined with “and,” they should be treated as plural" (https://www.fordham.edu/academics/academic-resources/writing-center/writing-resources/grammar/pronoun-antecedent-agreement/). That seems to go against the answer key. Am I missing or misunderstanding something?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Esther, The compound antecedent makes it a little less clear. However, my understanding is that non-specific persons (as in this example) are always referred to as singular, even when multiple are part of a compound antecedent.

Hi,
Since these are printed out 2 days to a page, (4 days if you copy 2-sided) how do you prevent kids from completing the whole week's worth at once? Any tips? Thanks!

Teacher Thrive

Hello! There is a handbook that offers some support as the students complete the review. I recommend completing the first few weeks with the students in a whole-group setting. Then they will be able to complete the tasks independently.

Amy Wells

Ga is changing standards significantly for middle school ela. Will you update based on the new standards? I created vocabulary from our 5 A Day, so I am wondering how much the lessons will change.
Thanks

Teacher Thrive

Hi Amy. Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, we do not plan on changing these for standards other than the Common Core. The majority of our resources are based on Common Core Standards.
