3rd Grade Language Assessments [DIGITAL]
Lynn Bailey

I purchased this resources to use with my students that are distance learning. I saw the standards that were included and purchased it with the assumption that I would be able to find the standard that I was teaching and give the assessment/quiz for that specific standard. While the material is good, I do NOT like the set up and it does NOT allow me to use it in the way that I want. It is set up weekly with NO table of contents. I did not intend to use it weekly. I thought that I would be able to use it for the standard that I was teaching. If you want to do a spiral review at the end of the year after you have taught every standard, then this would be a good resource. However, if you are wanting a product that will you will be able to use per standard, do not waste your time. Each link is just a link with no idea what you are downloading. I am going to keep looking for a product that I can use.

Greek and Latin Roots Sketch Notes Morphology [Book 2]

The file is in a PDF. I wanted to modify it by using each page as a background in slides and then placing text boxes over it where I wished students to write or place images. I got the free extension small PDF to convert the files into PNG files but the document is too large. I tried several other extensions but nothing would work without paying additional money. I reached out to the seller to give me the document in PNG, or to break it in 10 page segments so I could use it. She refused. Now I am stuck doing screenshots which come out blurry.

4th Grade Daily MATH Spiral Review Morning Work [Editable] Test Prep

This was WAY too difficult to start the year with. It would have been much better to spiral at the beginning with the standards from the grade level below, rather than starting with the end of year standards.

Teacher Thrive

This resource is not designed around a particular scope and sequence since many teachers follow different timelines.

Since Daily Spiral Reviews cover all standards, students are exposed to concepts they may not have had formal instruction on. Unfamiliar content presents a great opportunity for you to build background knowledge and assess where your students are before you even teach a specific lesson.

The best way to use this spiral reveiw is to begin with whole-group lessons where you model and discuss each activity. I don't worry too much if there haven't been formal lessons on a particular concept; I treat those items more as a preview. After a few weeks, the students really start grasping the format, and you can begin to transfer the workload to them. Eventually, when the students work independently on the review, you will spend time correcting and discussing their work in class.

As mentioned above, students will encounter concepts they are unfamiliar with. This is a GOOD thing, I promise! We don't always have the answers or know the procedures to solve problems. It's beneficial to expose students to "unknowns"; they become less sensitive to the uncomfortable feeling of "not knowing" and are less likely to panic.

However, you can always use the editable version (open in PowerPoint) to remove/change any review items you like.

I really like this-like others have said, I haven't found a way to have students record their name so that makes it somewhat unusable.

Savvy Classroom

Is there a bundle for Reading & Grammar?

Teacher Thrive

Hello! Thanks for asking. The only bundle I have that includes reading and grammar is the fourth-grade level bundle.

Haylie Dial

Is there any way you were planning to add multiple choice questions with these passages? I tend to prefer multiple choice since that's how students are assessed, and it takes less time.

Teacher Thrive

Hello, Haylie.

I don't have plans to add multiple-choice questions at this time. However, it is something I might consider for a possible update.

I cant seem to locate the answer key in the packet. I bought this many years ago and it is still a great resource

Teacher Thrive

Hello, Anne! The answer keys are at the end of the PDF file.

Jillian Carneiro

I loved this product when I was a 4th grade teacher and I can see that it is available in for 5th grade. Do you have any plans on creating it for 6th grade?

Teacher Thrive

Hello, Jillian. Sorry for the delay. Thank you for the kind words. At this time, I don't have plans to create a 6th grade version.

Wendy M.

I teach 5th grade and I have the 5th grade reading passages. I have loved using them. However, I have a few 5th graders that are lower level. I was wondering if you have a 3/4 combination pack? I was hoping to buy the first 10 weeks of both 3 & 4th grade reading passages to help my lower students work up to their 5th grade reading level.

Teacher Thrive

Hi Wendy! Unfortunatley, I don't have combo pack of 3rd and 4th grade passages. I only have the separate grade level passage set for 3rd and 4th.

Kaitren B.

Do you have the lexile levels for the passages? We have a lexile requirement for each term and I want to make sure the text meets our lexile requirements before purchasing the bundle.

Teacher Thrive

Hi Kaitren. Thanks for reaching out! This resource is not aligned with Lexile measures. We do, however, have several other resources that are Lexile leveled. You can find those here: https://teacherthrive.com/product/4th-grade-nonfiction-text-structures/

Megan A.

I love the idea of a weekly comprehension story and questions that go with it. Do you have assessments that go with it? If you don't, how would you suggest assessing student learning each week?

Teacher Thrive

Hi there! No, no assessments go along with the Reading Spiral Reviews. You could take a comprehension question from each day and use that for a weekly assessment.

TaylorMadetobeTeaching

Are there multiple choice questions for each passage?

Teacher Thrive

Thanks for reaching out! No, all questions require written responses.
