Hello, I have purchased all of your grade levels. As an ELA tutor, I need them all. However, when using them I wonder if I am employing them correctly. For example, if I use your book 7 with my grade 7 tutee, start week 1 at start of school year, has he been taught these 20 grammar concepts. If so, then would this mean book 7 is actually a 36 week review of concepts taught in grade 6? I find it confusing reviewing the same concepts in week 1 as week in week 36. Hope I've made sense here.
This resource is not designed around a particular scope and sequence since so many teachers follow different timelines.
Since Daily Spiral Reviews cover all standards, students are exposed to concepts that they may not have had formal instruction on. This presents a great opportunity for you to build background knowledge and assess where your students are before you even teach a specific lesson.
I find that the best way to use this is to begin with whole group lessons where you model and discuss each of the activities. I don't worry too much if there haven't been formal lessons on a particular concept; I treat those items more as a preview. After a few weeks, the students really start grasping the format and you can begin to transfer the workload to them. Eventually, when the students are working independently on the review, you will simply spend time correcting and discussing their work in class.
As mentioned above, students will encounter concepts they are unfamiliar with. This is a GOOD thing, I promise! We don’t always have the answers or know the procedures to solve problems. It’s healthy to expose students to “unknowns”; they become less sensitive to the uncomfortable feeling of “not knowing” and are less likely to panic.
However, you can always use the editable version (open in PowerPoint) to remove/change any review items you like.

Is there a specific Language/Grammar Lesson Guide that is complementary to these DLI Review sheets and you can refer me to? I purchased the digital version not realizing the new school where I'll be teaching doesn't have computers in the classrooms. Therefore, I need the paper version. Just want to make sure this is something I can print out and use in my classroom and it includes the Friday assessments before I buy this one too.
