3rd Grade Language Assessments [DIGITAL]
Lynn Bailey

I purchased this resources to use with my students that are distance learning. I saw the standards that were included and purchased it with the assumption that I would be able to find the standard that I was teaching and give the assessment/quiz for that specific standard. While the material is good, I do NOT like the set up and it does NOT allow me to use it in the way that I want. It is set up weekly with NO table of contents. I did not intend to use it weekly. I thought that I would be able to use it for the standard that I was teaching. If you want to do a spiral review at the end of the year after you have taught every standard, then this would be a good resource. However, if you are wanting a product that will you will be able to use per standard, do not waste your time. Each link is just a link with no idea what you are downloading. I am going to keep looking for a product that I can use.

Greek and Latin Roots Sketch Notes Morphology [Book 2]
David A.

The file is in a PDF. I wanted to modify it by using each page as a background in slides and then placing text boxes over it where I wished students to write or place images. I got the free extension small PDF to convert the files into PNG files but the document is too large. I tried several other extensions but nothing would work without paying additional money. I reached out to the seller to give me the document in PNG, or to break it in 10 page segments so I could use it. She refused. Now I am stuck doing screenshots which come out blurry.

This was WAY too difficult to start the year with. It would have been much better to spiral at the beginning with the standards from the grade level below, rather than starting with the end of year standards.

This resource is not designed around a particular scope and sequence since many teachers follow different timelines.

Since Daily Spiral Reviews cover all standards, students are exposed to concepts they may not have had formal instruction on. Unfamiliar content presents a great opportunity for you to build background knowledge and assess where your students are before you even teach a specific lesson.

The best way to use this spiral reveiw is to begin with whole-group lessons where you model and discuss each activity. I don't worry too much if there haven't been formal lessons on a particular concept; I treat those items more as a preview. After a few weeks, the students really start grasping the format, and you can begin to transfer the workload to them. Eventually, when the students work independently on the review, you will spend time correcting and discussing their work in class.

As mentioned above, students will encounter concepts they are unfamiliar with. This is a GOOD thing, I promise! We don't always have the answers or know the procedures to solve problems. It's beneficial to expose students to "unknowns"; they become less sensitive to the uncomfortable feeling of "not knowing" and are less likely to panic.

However, you can always use the editable version (open in PowerPoint) to remove/change any review items you like.

I really like this-like others have said, I haven't found a way to have students record their name so that makes it somewhat unusable.

Please make downloadable and thanks in advance. I am looking forward to using this resource

Teacher Thrive

Hello there. Can you clarify? I’m not sure what you mean by make downloadable.

courtney D.

Hi there! This looks great! Do you combine the ELA and math? Will students answer Monday ELA and Monday math through end of week?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Courtney! You can really do this any way you would like. If you wanted to use the language review for morning work and the math review for homework, or you can use them together. The spiral reviews cover 20 skill items (“5 a Day”) per week, so each day will focus on 5 different skill items.

Teaching4DKidz

Is this digital, as well? Google

Teacher Thrive

No, the digital versions are separate resources.

Elizabeth T.

Do you have a version of this with both the math and language arts on one page?

Teacher Thrive

Hello. No, I don’t.

Peggy J.

Do you have a 2nd grade bundle? I bought the 3rd, and I LOVE it, but my 3rd graders can't handle it. We don't even start multiplication, area, etc. until after Christmas with Saxon math. I think a 2nd grade bundle would be better to start out the year. Thank you for your amazing work!

Teacher Thrive

Hello! I do not have a second grade version. This resource is not designed around a particular scope and sequence since so many teachers follow different timelines, etc. I find that the best way to use this is to begin with whole group lessons where you model and discuss each of the activities. I don't worry too much if there hasn't been a formal lesson on a particular concept; I treat those items more of a preview. After a few weeks, the students really start grasping the format and you can begin to transfer the workload to them. Eventually, when the students are working independently on the review, you will simply spend time correcting and discussing their work in class. You can also use the editable version to delete any items you don't want to expose your students to.

Hi There! I have been using your 5 A Day Language and Math spiraling daily review for my split class for several years. This year I would really like to make a bound “bell ringer book” of sorts instead of printing copies each week. Is there a way for you to combine days of both Language and Math for your daily reviews? For example, having Monday Language and Monday Math on the same page and Tuesday Language and Tuesday Math on the following page?

Teacher Thrive

Hi Meghan. Thank you for reaching out. I wish I had the time to create the version you are describing. Perhaps someday in a future update. You could definitely do this on your own using the editable PowerPoint files that are included.

Jodi S.

Is there a Handbook for Book 3 Math? We love it for Book 4 but some of my kiddos need it for Book 3.

Teacher Thrive

Hi Jodi! I only have handbooks in the language reviews at this time.

Truly N.

Do you have math assessment for 3rd grade?? Am I overlooking it? Thanks so much!

Teacher Thrive

Hello! I do!

This product is great! Thanks so much! Is there any way you could add some questions that touch on this standard:
T.3.MD.A.2
Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l).
1 Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.

I feel like the rest of the content is touched on fairly evenly, but I didn't notice anything about measuring mass or capacity. Thanks :)

Teacher Thrive

Hello! I will look into adding this standard if/when I update this resource. Thank you for getting in touch.

Sarah P.

What does "5-A-Day" mean?

Teacher Thrive

Hello! There are 5 review items each day:-)
