Description

“Book Bits” are carefully selected snippets of information from the book. There are 44 “Book Bits”, however, you will only need one for each student; you can pick and choose which ones you like the most.

1. Give each student a “Book Bit”. The students will read their individual “Book Bits” and be allowed a little time to ponder and reflect on what they say (e.g., What impressions are they gathering about the book?).

2. Have the students move around the classroom, reading their “Book Bit” to every other student, while also listening to the other students’ “Book Bits”. No discussion or interpretation occurs at this point; they are simply reading to each other.

3. After hearing the other students’ “Book Bits”, students can then do a quick write on the impressions they now have about the book (What is this book about? What can we infer about the characters?, What might happen in the story? etc.)

4. After the quick write, students can discuss with each other in pairs, small groups, and eventually whole group.

5. The “Book Bit” quick write can then be revisited after students have read more of the book, or have completed the book.

4th Grade Math Doodle Pages Sketch Notes Guided Note-Taking Year-Long Bundle

Very Useful!

I teach 5th grade but have found that I spend a great deal of time reviewing 4th grade skills students forgot before we can even touch on our grade level concepts. I used most of these pages to help review the skills and made a booklet for the students. I just wish there was a version that did not have page numbers on them so I can put them in the order that supports our grade level curriculum.

Very Useful

I really enjoy this resource and the students are having fun taking notes on it. It covers everything we teach for 5th grade. I just wish there was a version that did not have page numbers on them. I ordered the pages so it follows along with our curriculum and made a booklet for the kids but the numbers already on them don't align to this order.

Helpful, but has not been added to lately

When can we expect the Decimal Operations doodle pages?

These are so much fun, and look so inviting in the student binders. I really want to keep using them because they are terrific.

Teacher Thrive

Hello, Lauren. This is a growing bundle. The price will increase each time I add more sketch notes. Previous buyers will get all new units that I add for free. The price is based on the current material included in the bundle. Buyers are not promised future materials because this bundle is priced according to current value.

Good for guided work

I bought these for homework for my 4th graders and I think I need to work with them on a couple first to teach them how to answer some of the questions. Some are worded in a confusing way but others are great and hit the standards well. I do like that some of the topics align with our reading program topics but not in the same order which means sometimes I have to cross out questions that relate to a previous one we haven't done yet. Overall though I find it beneficial.

Has anyone used this in a hybrid / concurrent setting? I was curious how to make this work with kids in person and online. This looks amazing and I really want to try it!

Teacher Thrive

Hi Brooke! I have heard much about teachers using this in a hybrid setting, but I have seen several teachers using them in a distance learning setting, so I suppose it would be just as well in a hybrid setting. Please let us know if you use it in your setting and how it works!

Has anyone had trouble printing this? I have tried to print the file 5 times today and it simply prints one sheet of coding-- just gibberish. I need this resource asap and have to get it printed to prep the lesson.
