A great resource for Intervention!
I like the set-up, but I have to go in and change several things b/c the exercises don't require the students to do what is required of the actual Common Core standard. Ex, students do know figurative language. The Daily Language wants the students to find the origin, meaning & write a sentence. The origin is not part of the standard. I feel it's better for the students to determine the meaning using context clues (instead of just looking it up), then write their own sentence. Instead, I give them a sentence using the idiom. Then they must determine, the meaning using the context clues I've provided in the sentence. Then they must write their own sentence using the idiom. I do the same thing for the proverb/adage on the Wednesday section.
The prefix section- I change it around & have the students to identify the prefix. Determine the meaning of the prefix, then then the meaning of the word. I do understand that when creating this product, it's created to serve teachers all over that may have different standard that they must follow. I'd like to send examples of how I tweak the Daily Language.
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. While the origin is not part of the standard, students find this information very interesting and knowing the origin does help students retain the meaning. I will also add that the act of finding the origin is a common core standard: "Consult reference materials (e.g., dictionaries, glossaries, thesauruses), both print and digital, to find the pronunciation and determine or clarify the precise meaning of key words and phrases." I am happy to hear that you have been able to adapt this resource to meet your teaching needs, though.
Kind of high expectations before reading -- concepts are challenging for many younger students with nothing concrete from which to build references. With the right group, it would be great.
great resource
Very clear. My only suggestion would be more text structures and lines in the boxes.

Several years ago you offered a bundle of tile activities, where I could choose I believe 10 different activities. I recall that I had to download them through your website and, at that time, your activities were paper only. Now you offer the same activity as both paper and digital, but since I bought and downloaded mine through your website, I do not have access to the digital versions. Is there any way to get the digital version of the tile activities I already purchased from you?
Hello, Jeannine! If you can email me your order number or the original email I sent you with your links, I can help you with this. info@teacherthrive.com
I purchased this product and another one of yours. The other product printed no problem, but this one is not sending to printer at all. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you have any suggestions? As of right now I am unable to print any of it at all.
Try the steps below.
Open the PDF file with Adobe Acrobat Reader
Click “Print”
Click on “Advanced”
Check the “Print as Image” box
Print the document

Is there any way to be refunded? The product is beautifully done, but when I looked at the preview, it appeared this product was at a 4th grade level and it is way too difficult for my students. I would happily exchange it for a different product on your page. Thanks.
Hi Alison. Unfortunately, digital downloads on TpT are nonrefundable. I will say that I have used this exact resource with 4th grade. I encourage you to give it a try with your students. I think you will be pleasantly surprised :-).
