Description

Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Latin and Greek languages. When students learn these “building blocks” it becomes easy for them to recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root. It is also increasingly important to explicitly teach students the meanings of Greek and Latin roots as they encounter the very technical vocabulary found in science and other content areas. This is the digital version of the paper-based Get to the Root of It: Book 2.

This digital version of the paper-based Get to the Root of It [Book 2] contains 20 units, each containing 10 words for 3 to 4 related roots.

3. Exercise C: Choose Two
4. Exercise D: Analogies

6. Exercise F: Apply What You Know
7. Word & Definition Match
8. Unit Assessment

Bonus Material:

I can not get this file to download and I am so disappointed as I really want to use it. It will only copy the first couple pages and that is it.

4th Grade Daily MATH Spiral Review Morning Work [Editable] Test Prep
Leslie Moen

This is not a spiral review. The weekly content has standards that have not yet been covered. Students can't have homework on things that they haven't learned yet.

Teacher Thrive

This resource is not designed around a particular scope and sequence since many teachers follow different timelines.

Since Daily Spiral Reviews cover all standards, students are exposed to concepts they may not have had formal instruction on. Unfamiliar content presents a great opportunity for you to build background knowledge and assess where your students are before you even teach a specific lesson.

The best way to use this spiral reveiw is to begin with whole-group lessons where you model and discuss each activity. I don't worry too much if there haven't been formal lessons on a particular concept; I treat those items more as a preview. After a few weeks, the students really start grasping the format, and you can begin to transfer the workload to them. Eventually, when the students work independently on the review, you will spend time correcting and discussing their work in class.

As mentioned above, students will encounter concepts they are unfamiliar with. This is a GOOD thing, I promise! We don't always have the answers or know the procedures to solve problems. It's beneficial to expose students to "unknowns"; they become less sensitive to the uncomfortable feeling of "not knowing" and are less likely to panic.

However, you can always use the editable version (open in PowerPoint) to remove/change any review items you like.

There is a problem with this resource. I purchased the digital version. However, there is no link for me to click on that gives me access to the documents virtually. I'm reaching out to the seller, please provide some guidance or refund me if possible? Thank you so much.

3rd Grade Grammar Unit: Pronouns

It was a good resource, but the inability to make any edits in the .PDF made sharing it digitally with the class nearly impossible. Very disappointed with this aspect. Good resource but this is a glaring issue.

The content was too hard for third grade. There needs to be a build in content and foundation. The skills were way over most of my students heads.

Also this is a rip off to not include the answer key with the questions. Why are you having people buy two separate things.

how can i find the printable version?

Jessie A.

I bought the pdf version for book 1 a few years back, and use it every year. I noticed book 2 is only digital now (which is great) but I'm wondering if there's a chance I could get book 1 digitally from you, since I already bought the pdf version? I don't want to buy it twice just to have a digital version. Is that possibility?

Teacher Thrive

Hello, Jessie.

Thanks for reaching out. These are separate resources as the digital versions take 100s of hours to create. Many digital resources out there are simply an image of a worksheet/printable embedded into a Google Slide with blank text boxes pasted on top of them. Creating digital resources in this manner is a simple process that only takes a few hours, and you are more than welcome to adapt the printable version as described for your personal use. Our digital versions are all created in Google Forms, so teachers can save time using the self-grading feature, which is not available in Google Slides. As mentioned above, creating Google Forms is very labor and time-intensive, so we decided to list these separately. You are more than welcome to use the printable versions you own to create your own Google Forms to use with your students only.

Katherine P.

Do you sell the digital unit assessments as a separate item for books 1 and 2?

Thank you!

Teacher Thrive

Hello, Katherine. Unfortunately, I only sell the daily practice and assessment Google Forms together.

I am not able to find the links to access the google forms. It says there is a spread sheet that is provided, but I can't find it anywhere from the download.

Teacher Thrive

There is an .xlxs file in the original zip file that you download titled "Book 2 Get to the Root of It .xlsx" that has all of the links.
