This perfectly complements the daily work. It has made planning so easy to hit these topics each week.
I loved using this resource as a warm up activity for my advanced 6th grade students.
I like how this is very similar to the 5-a-day, because it reviews multiple skills that we have worked on during the week.
Great product. Kept students engaged and focused on learning.
This has helped me review these needed skills with my students on a regular basis.

I purchased the 5-A-Day Language Review along with the Assessments last year and used them with my 6th graders. Although I LOVE this resource, I stopped using it mid-way through the year and opted for a different resource because correcting the assessments each week (with 70 6th graders) was SOOO time consuming! Do you have any alternative suggestions for the Friday assessment piece, or is it possible to covert it to a Google quiz that is self-correcting? I'd really like to use this again this year, but spending several hours on my weekend correcting papers is not feasible for me. Thanks for your suggestion! :)
Hi Kara, I looked into creating a Google Form version, but many of the questions don’t lend themselves to multiple choice format. I hope to revisit the idea when I finish up some other projects.
I am looking forward to using the 6th grade 5-a-day language review, and I am planning to purchase this product as well as the grammar interactive notebook to go with it. What I am wondering is, 1. Do you recommend teaching the lessons in the notebook first before you begin using the review? and 2. Is there a cumulative pre/post-test that I could give my students so that we could see their growth over the year? What would you recommend for that? Thanks for great products!
Hi Leah! I would not recommend that you wait to finish the INB to start the review. The spiral review is not designed around a particular scope and sequence since so many teachers follow different timelines, etc. I find that the best way to use this is to begin with whole group lessons where you model and discuss each of the activities. I don't worry too much if there hasn't been a formal lessons on a particular concept; I treat those items more of a preview. After a few weeks, the students really start grasping the format and you can begin to transfer the workload to them. Eventually, when the students are working independently on the review, you will simply spend time correcting and discussing their work in class. Please feel free to email me with any questions! I am looking forward to using your 5-a-day language review this year. I am planning on using the student handbook to get the kids familiar with the various concepts covered in the review, stretching the first couple of weeks out for quite a while (I don't want to spend too much time each day on grammar-type stuff). I was also planning to purchase the assessment pack, and I am wondering--does it happen to come with a pre/post test? I just want to give my students something at the beginning that we can use to measure their progress through the year. What would you recommend?
I just purchased both the 5-A-Day Language Review and the Asssessment. I have a concern with the Assessment of intensive pronouns( #6). Almost all those assessment problems each week actually require a reflexive pronoun Technically reflexive and intensive pronouns looks the same, but I don't want my students to lump all "self/selves" pronouns into one category. The only ones that are indeed intensive are #5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15, 19, and 34. :( That leaves a LOT of incorrect problems. Hope you can fix it.
Hi Karen! Yes, some of the intensive pronouns were incorrect. From my review, I didn't see the numbers you listed as the ONLY intensive pronouns (e.g. *The author approved the book cover herself.* Herself is intensive even though it is not adjacent to the word author.) I did correct ones that included reflexive pronouns.
I am looking to utilize this resource on Google Classroom. Is there a way to assign a page or two at a time without sending the whole file?
Hi Stacy. If you have a pdf reader, you can always delete the pages you don’t need, and send the remaining pages to GC. Unfortunately, you cannot extract pages. You can also save the Ppt file as a pdf and then extract the pages you want.
Hi. When I print the 6th grade Langauge assessment, the area where question 9 and 20 are located, there is some random Spanish wording. It isn't there when I view the image in the PowerPoint, but is there when I print it. Can you tell me how to fix this?
Hi Stacy, I apologize for this issue. I corrected the problem in the file on TpT. However, if you would like to send me your file that you have customized, I would be happy to fix that for you. This way you won't have to start over. info@teacherthrive.com
Hi there me again
I have another question. On 5th grade Week 3 (Thursday) correlative conjunction lesson, you have an example Montel taking Spanish or French and you provide an answer using if/if. However, in the assessment week 3, sentence relating to taking the bus to school or mom driving, you provide the answer whether/or (which I would agree with). However, as the children use the weekly lessons to practice for the assessment, the students used the if/if answer. Can you adjust the lesson week three to reflect the use of the conjunction whether/or in the Montel sentence please? That way it acts as a more accurate use of the correlation. Thanks
Hi Heather! Thank you for bringing this to my attention. "Whether" should have been included in the answer of the review. I have made the correction.
I am not able to download the PDF file, only the Powerpoint. I had to print from the PowerPoint. My computer tries to convert the PDF to word but it is blocked by you. Please advise.
That is strange. Please make sure you are opening the file with the latest version of Adobe Reader. If you are still unable to access the file, please contact tpt so they can troubleshoot this with you directly. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Contact
I do not have an answer key, the description states that it is included. Please advise.
Hello! The answer key is at the end of the PDF file.
is the answer keys included
Hi Matthew! Yes, answer keys are included.
