5th Grade Daily GRAMMAR Language Spiral Review Morning Work [Editable] Test Prep
Shonair A.

I like the set-up, but I have to go in and change several things b/c the exercises don't require the students to do what is required of the actual Common Core standard. Ex, students do know figurative language. The Daily Language wants the students to find the origin, meaning & write a sentence. The origin is not part of the standard. I feel it's better for the students to determine the meaning using context clues (instead of just looking it up), then write their own sentence. Instead, I give them a sentence using the idiom. Then they must determine, the meaning using the context clues I've provided in the sentence. Then they must write their own sentence using the idiom. I do the same thing for the proverb/adage on the Wednesday section.
The prefix section- I change it around & have the students to identify the prefix. Determine the meaning of the prefix, then then the meaning of the word. I do understand that when creating this product, it's created to serve teachers all over that may have different standard that they must follow. I'd like to send examples of how I tweak the Daily Language.

Teacher Thrive

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. While the origin is not part of the standard, students find this information very interesting and knowing the origin does help students retain the meaning. I will also add that the act of finding the origin is a common core standard: "Consult reference materials (e.g., dictionaries, glossaries, thesauruses), both print and digital, to find the pronunciation and determine or clarify the precise meaning of key words and phrases." I am happy to hear that you have been able to adapt this resource to meet your teaching needs, though.

The only thing I can edit on the PowerPoint is the content within the tables and the names and titles on top. Otherwise, I cannot edit the days of the week.

Teacher Thrive

The text of the days of the week are text boxes that can be edited.

Kathy W.

Hello,

How can I get the cell background for the days in the editable one? I want to be able to edit to add "week of" but keep the cell background designs.

Teacher Thrive

Hi Kathy,

Since the editable version is not created using the same software as the printable PDF versions, the PowerPoints do not have the background images. However, you can add any images or elements you like in PowerPoint.

Casey C.

Hi! How do I edit this on Google Slides?

Teacher Thrive

Hello, Casey. If you upload the PowerPoint files to your Google Drive, you can then edit them in Google Slides.

Shreve Math and Science

Any chance you have this for 7th grade?

Teacher Thrive

Hello! Unfortunately, I only have them for grades 3-6.

do you have a preview of week 31

Piñatas and Pi Charts

Hi, I used your spiral Review for both 5th & 6th and I absolutely loved it, so did the kids. It was an excellent review for my students leading up to their TCAP and helped them identify upcoming skills and some even acquired the skills before I even had the chance to teach them. I am moving up to 7th & 8th Math and I know you mentioned in the past you did not have plans to create one but I wanted to see if that had changed.

Teacher Thrive

Hello! Thank you so much for the kind words. I am pleased to hear that this resource was helpful. Unfortunately, I don't have them for 7th or 8th grade.
