These sketch pages are like mini anchor charts that your students actively create and can be referred to in the future.
While these were specifically created for 4th grade, there are no grade-level indicators on the student materials, so you can use these with older students.

WHY SKETCH?
Sketch notes present your students with a meaningful and engaging activity they will love. Doodle note-taking activates verbal and visual modalities to capture concepts. The whole brain is absorbed in hearing, synthesizing, and retaining ideas. This high level of engagement helps students retain the content and leaves little room for distraction.

I used these with fifth graders before. I tried using this with my seventh graders but it was way too difficult and unclear for them.
The terminology on the task cards were confusing not only for me, but for my students. I put the booklets together, as instructed, which the students liked. However, there were not any directions on the pages. I found students were constantly asking me what to write on each page. I think this is a great idea to use with a student selected novel, but I think it needs directions. If I use this again with another class, I feel I will have to type my own directions to include with each page to better direct the students.
Hi Sheila. There is a teacher’s guided that explains how each page should be completed. Please let me know if for some reason your file is missing this section.
Standard is not addressed.
I like this resource. I think it could be better if everything that should be included in notes is provided rather than an instruction to write another example under the flap- give me the example. Also, the cutting is pretty involved, so keep that in mind when planning for time.
My final suggestion/request is for the seller to create worksheets that corrolate with each lesson. That would make this a more complete resource.
